ACADEMICS
AdvancEd teams are required to acknowledge a powerful practice when a school scores a 4, the top score. For most schools, 4's are few and far between in the final report of an AdvancEd team. However, at Lakeland that was not the case. We scored fifteen 4's, and earned 15 Powerful Practices for excellence on the final report of our AdvancEd visit! As the lead evaluator of the team stated, this surprised the team to the point that they checked and rechecked their information, not able to believe the number of 4's, and awarded our scores of excellence with full confidence that we have earned the kudos we have received! GO EAGLES! Thank you to the 40+ community members who participated in the 2014 Lakeland Career Expo "Trip of a Lifetime" held in April for our junior class. Following a keynote address by Mark Lanfear of Kelly Services, students were able to walk around the gym and talk with representatives from a variety of career fields in a job fair style format, learning what it takes to be successful in different jobs. We chose the theme "Trip of a Lifetime" because every career is a journey and like any journey successful careers take planning and exploration! |
