On Sunday, October 16th, the Lakeland Equestrian team completed a magical season of excellence, winning the M.I.H.A. Division A State Championship. The competition, held over four days at the Midland County Fairgrounds, included over 40 of the best high school teams in the state of Michigan.
The Eagles claimed the State Title by finishing with 341 points, outdistancing the runner-up, Goodrich High School (264 pts), by 77 points.
Lakeland showed its superior depth and talent by scoring in all 17 events during the 4-day competition, consistently finishing among the top 3 point-getters in most of the events.
Individual State Champions include Abbi Hill for Western Showmanship and Taylor McKinley in Saddle Seat Pattern.
Congratulations to Coach Nicole Simmons and all of her assistants, and of course, to all of the student-athletes representing Lakeland High School during this State Championship season.

On October 11th, the Boys and Girls Cross-Country teams defeated Waterford Kettering (15-50 boys and 17-48 girls) shutting the door on the rest of the division. This is back to back KLAA North division titles for the Boys Cross-Country!
On October 29th, the Boys Cross Country team won the Regional Championship! Both the Girls and Boys Cross Country teams have earned a trip to the State Finals! |
ARTS
On October 22nd, the Lakeland Marching Band hosted the Bands Across the Valley Invitational with Milford High School, here at LHS. The Lakeland band not only took 1st in their class, but the also swept all captions for Best Marching, Best Music, and Best General Effect, and also did so against all of the bands at the competition receiving the highest score regardless of class. The band scored an 88.750. This now places them ranked 4th in the State heading into our final show, the Huron Valley Invitational!
On October 29th, the Lakeland Band once again finished in 1st place in Flight II. The band scored a 90.2. their highest score in the last 20 years!
